Message from the OSA Chair

Dear Alumni

It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the beginning of a new year and now we are getting ready for the first big event of the year. The 2017 Saints Sports Festival is only a month away and it looks like it is going to be an amazing weekend of great sports, festivities and entertainment for the whole family.

As is our role during the festival, The OSA will be running the food and beverage sections of the Easter festival and I would like to encourage you to come and see how the Festival has grown and more so how the school has grown.

You will undoubtedly bump into people you know as the school becomes a cultural melting pot over the Easter weekend in Johannesburg. What I can guarantee is the beers will be cold, the wors rolls hot and a good time is waiting to be had.

As is always the case, there is a lot of stuff happening at the OSA and I am very excited about our key project for the year, which is the launch of a recruitment and networking portal. Although there are not a lot of details at this stage, before the end of this year, we will launch a portal that will not only connect job seekers with employee seekers but also launch a networking schedule of events and gatherings for all of our Alumni, young and old who are looking to grow in their careers. This is one of the most exciting projects we have embarked on, since the building of Higher Ground.

Talking about our home, the Higher Ground has reached the stage where we are looking at adding to our amazing venue, to make it, yes you guessed it, more amazing. With planned extensions to the building and additions to make the experience an even better one, The Higher Ground will start taking on a new shape as the year progresses. We have completed our first round of planning and will release the artist impressions as soon as we have them back. With this in mind, there is always a need for people to get involved in many ways. I will be setting up a development committee which I would be very grateful for people to be involved.

Finally our lottery is growing with every release. An alteration for 2017 will see only one lottery held each year and the period will be lengthened to 8 months. The prizes are amazing and for the price of R500 for value in the region of R250 000, who could argue with the opportunity.

I hope to see you at the Saints Sports Festival, you know where I will be.
